Details:

Prerna Project is Initiative of SYF which was started in 2010 for Gender sensitization, Gender equality, Teenage Body changes, body development, love & attraction, HIV/AIDS & Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) & Human Sexuality Awareness in School, College & community adolescents & Youth.

During the period 2008-09, there was a very frightening atmosphere about HIV / AIDS everywhere. Due to the lack of scientific information, the misconceptions were more about this subject. Sexuality is still not talked about openly in the society. Young people need to know about this subject but due to lack of proper information at the right age, the youth get lost. Parents, teachers, relatives or doctors cannot be asked for information on sexuality. The most convenient way to get information is through peers. It is blindly believed without verifying the veracity of the information received from peers. Sometimes other means of information are chosen. At such times the need arises for scientific information. Considering the social problems among all these youths, Sarathi started Prerna project. It is equally important for young people to be aware of this. It is still important to educate young people about HIV to reach zero. Adolescent boys and girls are getting an education to get rid of ignorance and contribute to becoming a responsible citizen. It is working to create awareness among schools, colleges, Ganpati Mandal, Navratra Mandal, adolescent groups, youth groups, self-help groups, and company workers through sessions, poster display and competitions. Till date, more than 26,218 youths have been provided information on this subject under the Prerna Project. From 2016, various competitions were started under the Prerna project to see what the youth of the society think about these issues. These include district level Elocution competition, essay writing competition, painting competition. The topics of these competitions are given in the context of Gender sensitization, Gender equality, Teenage Body changes, body development, love & attraction, HIV/AIDS & Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) & Human Sexuality so that the contestants can present these topics based on the art they have. Sarathi started these competitions to talk to the youth on issues like HIV / AIDS, to express their views. These competitions help in understanding the current situation in the society. The number of participants in these competitions has been increasing over the years. Young people who do not speak clearly on this issue in the society today have started expressing their views on this issue through competitions.
